To our respected parents and members of the Sibu community. My name is Shirly Su Shan Ni, I have been an early childhood educator for six years, and I am honored and deeply touched by the trust placed in me by the school and parents in being elevated as part of the Kindergarten leadership team. I have enjoyed being a part of the Woodlands teaching team since its inaugural year in 2013. I have worked as the teacher of Kindy 2; modified the International Primary Curriculum for delivery to younger ages; and developed the PE curriculum for kindergarten. I have greatly appreciated the opportunity to learn and develop with the support of the former kindergarten coordinator Ms Sandhya and the other kindergarten professionals. The curriculum that I have helped to develop for Woodlands emphases Learning Through Play, and it is this focus that has shaped our kindergarten department and teaching style. We are committed to children developing through Exploration, Experimentation and Experience. As part of Woodlands’ new management team and school development plan, I am excited by the opportunities and challenges that 2015 will bring. We look forward to implementing more initiatives and activities for our students and I am confident that with the coordination between staff and parents the children will continue to grow and enjoy their learning journey.
Since 2015, I have been very pleased to be working with Ms Shirly Su Shan Ni as part of the Kindergarten Head Teacher team. In this new role, I will continue to bring the same enthusiasm and professionalism that I always have to the education of young children. I am excited by the new developments and ideas that are going on in the school and I hope that parents will continue to place their faith and trust in the Kindergarten team.
My name is Jacqueline Binti Mingo. I am a local from Sibu, Sarawak. I am currently taking Diploma in Early Childhood Education at Methodist Pilley Institute, Sibu. Before I join Woodlands International School as a teaching assistant in kindergarten department, I was a Clinic Attendant at Klinik Dr. Kho Soon Kih. I enjoy working in early childhood field as I am interested in learning more about children’s development during the early stage of life. I believe that building firm foundation during early years is crucial to help shape their character in the future. I am glad to be given the chance to be part of the school and hope to provide the best learning environment to the children.
Hi, I’m Miss Weng Weng, the class teacher of Pre-Kindy. I have begun to work as an Early Childhood Educator since 2011. I am passionate about early childhood education as I am eager to know more about children’s development, the ways they learn and the reasons behind their behaviour. So, I took up the course in 2012 and I obtained Diploma in Early Childhood Education in Methodist Pilley Institute. Till today, I have had 5 years of experience in teaching children. I enjoy playing and learning together with them. I believe that children learn through play. As they play, they learn to solve problems, socialize with others while having their motor skills developed and so on. It’s really touches my heart to see improvement in them. It’s my pleasure to be given the opportunity to continue my career as an Early Childhood Educator in Woodlands International School.
Hi all, I am Ms. Jo, the class teacher of Kindy 2 in Woodlands Kindy Department. In 2013, I graduated with Diploma in Early Years Education in SEGi College Subang Jaya, Selangor. Later, I continued with Bachelor (Honours) in Early Years Setting which awarded by University of Greenwich, London. I have been teaching in Kindergarten for 6 years in Kuala Lumpur. I love to be with children. I believe that every individual child is a gift from God. Every child is unique and teachable. I also trust that the character buildings should be started at a very beginning of age which is from 0-6. Children learn rapidly during this age. As an Early Years Educator, I wish to facilitate children in their learning therefore they can unleash their potential and learn happily at such a young age in any circumstances as this is what I feel a childhood should be. Lastly, it is my pleasure to join and learn in Woodlands International School. Thank you and God Bless. “Childhood is not a race to see how quickly a child can read, write and count. Childhood is a small window of time to learn and develop at the pace which is right for each individual child.”
Hello, my name is Ngu Bing Wen. I obtained a Diploma in Early Childhood Education from Methodist Pilley Institute in 2014. I have 5 years of experience in teaching preschool children. My philosophy of education is that every child is unique and they should have opportunity to learn more through play. I am glad that I can be a part of Woodlands International School.
My name is Goh Pei Shan. I was graduated in 2015 from Kolej Dika in KL with Diploma in Early Childhood. Previously I was working with Kids Academy as a teacher. Now, I was joined Woodlands as a teacher assistance. My philosophy of the education is to share a simple knowledge and provide fun, interactive early learning programs while infusing a love of learning in children through preschool and let students discover their own abilities and potential to learn inside a classroom focused on an interactive education. The children will have the opportunity to work in close cooperation with the instructor and will learn to expand their thoughts and to communicate effectively. Each child is encouraged to explore their world and gain the confidence needed to engage fully in the early learning.
Hello, my name is Serena Liang Chen, I came from China. I have completed my graduate diploma in early childhood education through Waikato University in New Zealand. I worked as an early childhood teacher in New Zealand for two years before I joined in the kindergarten department in Woodlands International School in 2015. Four years ago, I found my true passion in teaching and learning alongside young children. Seeing them succeed and watching them achieve their “light bulb” moments are really rewarding. I also enjoy talking with families and find out what their child likes doing at home so that I can help to foster these interests. I am really grateful that I am able to continue my journey as an early childhood teacher here in Woodlands International School.
My name is Vivienne Soon Zhia Ling and I am from Bintulu, Sarawak. I obtained a Diploma in Early Childhood Education from the Methodist Pilley Institute in 2013, I also graduated in 2014 from the University of Derby with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Studies. In 2015, I joined Woodlands as a teacher in kindergarten. I chose this position because I strongly believe that building a firm foundation in the early years is important. My philosophy of education is that every child can learn and that they learn more through every opportunity that is given to them to explore the world around them. I also believe that education is a shared responsibility between children, school, families as well as the community. It is our responsibility to collaborate with each other to facilitate children’s learning and development so that they can blossom into competent individuals. During my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends. I also like to travel to different places and learn about various cultures.

Hello, I’m Helen Tang Sing Hiong from Sibu, Sarawak. I have 26 years of experience in teaching preschool children and I am very happy to be continuing my development at Woodlands International School from 2015 onwards. In my point of view, preschool education is the most important education for the children. It provides more than basic knowledge, but assists in the development of a passion for learning. The children of Malaysia are blessed to have the opportunity to study at their very young age. A good education and a smart educator may help the children to have wisdom and perseverance in order to face the challenging world in the future.
