Taking up a new position of Head of Primary and Early Years at the beginning of this year was an exciting opportunity for me after 13 years of journeys in International Schools. I joined a team of enthusiastic teachers, providing a happy, caring and productive learning environment. The three to twelve year olds are lively and joyful - they are a wonderful age, where they are keen to learn and eager for new experiences. Nurturing and nourishing this joy of learning is one of the most important parts of a primary teacher’s job and is a reward in itself for any teacher. After graduating from Edith Cowan University Australia with a Bsc in Information Technology & Communication, I first started to teach the primary division in both Private and International schools across Malaysia. Seven years of teaching wasn’t enough to convince me I had everything I needed, hence a decision to further my academic knowledge was made. I got my Masters of Educations in Mathematics with ICT from the University of Malaya and moved up to the Secondary Division afterwards.
I always remember this quote in my journey of education, “to inspire wisdom with wisdom, to touch lives with life”. Education is all about discovery, awakening, guidance and thinking from the perspective of the heart and lives of all children. Only through unconditional acceptance, can we really let the sunshine of life brighten every corner of education. I am very grateful for what I have today and look forward to growing together with Woodlands International School.
